Psychologist Robert Sternberg identified two key attributes of successful people: they compensate for or overcome their weaknesses, and they capitalize on their strengths. During this unit, we will define what we mean by success, look at several plans you can use to determine your own personal strengths and weaknesses, and begin talking about how you can use these to plan a "success strategy" for your work as a student and professional.
By the end of this unit, you should be able to:
- Explain what it means to do successful work (or good work) as a student and professional
- Use one or more online resources to help you identify your personal strengths and weaknesses
- Explain why strengths are as important as weaknesses in determining success
- Plan strategies for overcoming academic and professional challenges
